The best people rise to any challenge
Zinc hits the BRW Fast 100 list running
The Zinc Group continues on the fast track of business excellence, scoring a high placing of 11th in the Fast 100 list, published in the November edition of BRW Magazine. The list is recognised as Australia’s most comprehensive annual guide to the booming small to medium business sector and ranks the best companies on sustainable revenue growth.
‘Zinc’s high ranking in the Fast 100 is a fantastic achievement,’ says Peter Cleary, CEO of Zinc Group. ‘It shows we have an excellent team committed to delivering great results to clients in all areas of the business.’
While impressive revenues over the last three years caught the eyes of BRW and its research partner RMIT School of Management, the judges focused most of their attention on how the top companies developed their teams. They noted that ‘The most important attribute of all the high performing companies was a clear organisation culture, based on the managers’ abilities to impart shared values and beliefs to their staff’.
Zinc’s energetic corporate culture was similarly recognised in March 2007, when the company was named as one of the Top 5 Marketing Employers in the country by The SG Group and B&T Magazine.
‘True success is so much more than strong revenue growth,’ notes Cleary. ‘If you want the best results for your business, you engage the best people because they’ll rise to any challenge clients give them.
‘We’re very focused on attracting clever people who will enjoy Zinc’s passion for ideas, stimulating culture and flexible working conditions. We do a lot to look after our people, because we know that motivated teams simply perform better for our clients. Give us a great challenge and we’re really happy, because it means we can all make more of our abilities.’
BRW identified several vital attributes of high performing companies, including:
- strong leadership committed to constantly improving all team members’ talents and out-performing competitors
- customer focused corporate culture that fosters pro-active and positive responses to customer and market needs
- culture of learning and innovation, where all team members are encouraged to share ideas and develop improved products, delivery methods, sales and marketing
- emphasis on motivating and looking after staff so they have a desire to learn, think and resolve challenges
- rewarding staff for exceeding expectations, particularly when developing innovative solutions for customers’ challenges
- supporting a fun and stimulating working environment
- encouraging collaboration across divisions of the company so that customer challenges can be addressed efficiently and quickly
